my book is now finished and will be available in September. I will be at the Knit & Stitch show at Alexandra Palace with the book and a display of some of the work that I have made for it. – Make a note of the dates – October 7th – 11th. I look forward to meeting you there.
I am showing a collection of new work together with Pat clayton at Birdwood House in Totnes, Devon, from 16th – 21st September 2013.
I have just done this show in Exeter. It was a great space and although visitor numbers were not great, many people showed interest in my books, printing methods and stitching onto metal frames, of which more later. The weather was cold but not as cold as home and we had rain instead of snow which was a lot more manageable.
These wire frames are available in three sizes, 120 x 120mm, 120 x 180 mm, 180 x 180mm. They are very versatile, you can wind thread onto them and then stitch into it to create original fabric, working by hand or machine. You can use thread that is difficult to pass through fabric in the normal way. It may be stubby or textured or just too thick, or it may be fragile and easily broken. Open lacey fabrics or densely stitched fabrics can be made. The resulting fabric can be applied to another fabric or cut and pieced as fragments.
Frames cost £4, £4.50, and £5. a set of three, one of each size costs £10.50.
